Leicestershire is a landlocked county in England’s East Midlands. Its main population and administrative hub is the city of Leicester. Other places of note are Loughborough, Market Harborough, Coalville, Hinckley, Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Melton Mowbray.

Several companies make Indian food products in Leicester. United Biscuits have their distribution centre in Ashby-de-la-Zouch as well as a snacks factory. Masterfoods, producers of major pet food products, have a factory in Melton Mowbray.
Leicestershire County Council is based at County Hall in Glenfield and is a big employer, as are the health, education and retail sectors.
The county has some important historical sites, including the site of the Battle of Bosworth, where in 1485 Richard III lost his life and Henry Tudor became king. Leicester has the Richard III Visitor Centre.
